Leonardo Hotels & Resorts Mediterranean announced plans to open a new 120-room property in central Athens under the Leonardo City Center Athens brand, located near the group's NYX Esperia Palace Hotel Athens. The company's CEO, Roni Aloni, made the announcement during a press event held in Halkidiki. According to Aloni, the acquisition is in its final stages and the hotel will be operating under the Leonardo City Center Athens name after a brief transition period.
The investment is estimated at around 20 million euros, with the hotel expected to open under the Leonardo brand within one to two months. Aloni also hinted at further expansion plans in the Greek market, noting that the group is exploring additional acquisitions beyond the upcoming Athens property.
Cyprus Expansion Pipeline
Leonardo Hotels & Resorts Mediterranean is also moving forward with three new projects in Cyprus, including the Nalu resort in Latchi and two properties in Nicosia. The Nalu resort, described as a family-oriented concept, will feature 242 suites, a floating water park at sea, and multiple entertainment attractions.
In Nicosia, the group plans to open the Leonardo Boutique Nicosia, a 73-room property near the city’s historic walls, within the next few months. Additionally, a new NYX hotel in Nicosia, expected to open later, will include conference facilities, a rooftop spa, and pool. The total investment in Cyprus is around 180 million to 200 million euros, part of the group’s broader 2026-2027 development strategy.
MERAVIA – Leonardo Limited Edition officially opened in Halkidiki following a 45-million-euro investment by Leonardo Hotels & Resorts Mediterranean. The adults-only resort features 188 rooms.
