Antalya Airport, one of Turkey's busiest tourism gateways, is about to revolutionize air traffic with the introduction of the 'Advanced ATC Tower' system on May 18. This new system will make Antalya the first Turkish airport to share real-time data with Europe's air traffic network. The system will enable the instant management of all operations, from flight delays to runway usage.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that with the "Advanced ATC Tower" system, Antalya Airport will start operations on May 18. He emphasized that this advanced air traffic control system would allow for more efficient, productive, and coordinated management of traffic during the busy summer season. Uraloğlu explained that the system would result from intensive work between the State Airports Corporation (DHMI) and EUROCONTROL Network Manager, integrating Antalya Airport with Europe's air traffic network under the Advanced ATC Tower concept.
The system ensures the real-time transfer of operational information generated in the air traffic control tower to the EUROCONTROL system. This will allow critical operational data such as pushback, taxiing processes, runway usage, takeoff order, and takeoff times to be directly communicated to Europe's air traffic network.
'ADVANCED AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ERA' BEGINS
This is a huge step forward for Antalya's airport and for Turkish aviation as a whole! But will it really solve the notorious delays and chaos? Only time will tell. What do you think, will this system be a game changer or just another band-aid solution?
