Juan Montero delivered another phenomenal game with record-breaking efficiency, becoming the hero of Valencia's 89-86 victory over Panathinaikos in Game 4 of the EuroLeague playoffs. The Spanish team evened the score to 2-2 after trailing 0-2.
Montero matched his personal best of 29 points, hitting 5 of 6 two-point shots, 4 of 6 three-pointers, and was perfect from the free-throw line with 7 of 7. In addition, he contributed 7 rebounds, 7 assists, and 3 steals over 30 minutes on the court. Despite his four turnovers, the guard finished with a record-setting efficiency rating of 45, the highest in modern EuroLeague playoff history.
After the match, Montero expressed satisfaction with his performance but emphasized the importance of the team's success.
"Of course, I'm happy with my game, but I'm even more proud of the entire team for the way we fought in these two games. But the work is not done. We need to stay humble and continue to play our basketball," said the Rising Star award winner in the EuroLeague.
The Dominican player admitted that the pressure of the playoffs only motivates him more.
"I'm a competitive person. I enjoy this atmosphere, and it doesn't affect me. I came here to play and enjoy basketball," added Montero.
