The third edition of "Zlatograd Bike n'Run" will feature routes crossing both Bulgarian and Greek territories, according to Nikolay Djangalov, a representative of the organizers, who reported to BTA.
Runners, cyclists, and duathletes from Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Russia have confirmed their participation in the event, which is set to take place from May 29 to 31, with routes starting and finishing in Zlatograd.
The cross-border routes consist of two parts: one for cycling and one for running. The longest cycling route, at 54 kilometers, will cross the Bulgarian-Greek border and continue for approximately 27 kilometers within Greek territory. It will then re-enter the Zlatograd municipality near Kushla before finishing in the city's central square. The 35-kilometer mountain run will also cross the border, with a 17-kilometer segment within Greece.
Participants in this year's "Zlatograd Bike n'Run" will compete on entirely new running routes, the organizers have confirmed. The 50-kilometer race, called "The Circuit of Zlatograd Municipality," passes through the villages of Dolen, Staretsevo, Eрма река and finishes in Zlatograd. The competition again offers the option to use electric bicycles for the 35-kilometer distance. Beginners in cycling and running can opt for the 14-kilometer route.
The number of registered competitors for the third edition of "Zlatograd Bike n'Run" has increased by around 20-30%, with a notable rise in interest in the duathlon category. Families are among the participants, and activities and races for the youngest competitors are scheduled for May 31.
