Sarajevo Canton has implemented a temporary visa-free policy for tourists from Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain, aiming to enhance tourist traffic in the region. This initiative, according to the Sarajevo Canton Tourist Board, is expected to significantly increase the number of visitors from these Gulf states, which already have a strong emotional and cultural connection to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Strong Emotional Links

The decision to abolish visas for these countries stems from the pre-existing strong emotional ties and historical connections between these regions. Many visitors from Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Bahrain have a deep personal and cultural affinity for Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the tourist board believes will further encourage travel.

Boosting the Tourism Sector

The implementation of visa-free travel is anticipated to not only increase tourist numbers but also improve the overall economic contribution of these visitors. This move is seen as a significant step towards strengthening the tourism sector in Sarajevo Canton and across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
