The 123rd Rose Day festival in Kazanlak will see its second peak day conclude with a major performance by renowned ethno-folk singer Ishkar. Local authorities confirmed that the artist, alongside her band The Gypsies, will present her "30 Years on Stage" spectacle on the central Sevtopolis Square on June 6. The concert promises to showcase her biggest global hits, familiar to generations of fans worldwide.
A Celebration of Tradition and Taste
The day’s festivities in Kazanlak are deeply rooted in the region’s floral heritage. The traditional rose-picking ritual will take place in the rose gardens near the village of Yasenovo, offering visitors a glimpse into the ancient agricultural practices that define the Valley of Roses. Meanwhile, the Rose Museum and the Ethnographic Complex "The Tower" will host educational exhibits on rose distillation and perfumery, allowing guests to learn about the intricate process of producing rose oil.
Cultural and culinary events are also prominent on the schedule. The Archaeological Complex "Valley of the Thracian Kings" will serve as the venue for the first Bulgarian Crafts Festival, featuring a unique knife-cutting tournament. Photography enthusiasts can visit the Photography Museum, which hosts the culinary initiative "Roses and Saffron: The Tasty Dishes of Bulgaria." Later in the day, the "Rosearium" park will present a competitive exhibition of Bulgarian bread and traditional dishes, titled "The Bread of the Bulgarian."
Art, Wine, and Entertainment
Art lovers will find plenty to explore, including a photography exhibition titled "Selected from the National Photo Plein Air 'Valley of the Roses'" at the "Photoclub Iskra" house. Wine aficionados are invited to the 15th edition of the Rose Wine Expo, a dedicated festival celebrating the region’s pink wines. The "Chudomir" Literary and Art Museum will host a Saturday matinee featuring performances by Alexander Murashko on the oboe and Oksana Zoishiy on the bayan.
Before Ishkar takes the stage, the square will host a Latin fiesta featuring Pambos Agapiou, along with performances from the second day of the International Folklore Festival. The entire 123rd Rose Day celebration began yesterday with the coronation of Rose Queen Denitsa Malcheva and will conclude tomorrow with the final "Rose Picking" ritual and a festive parade through the city’s central boulevard.
To ensure safety during the evening concert, temporary traffic restrictions will be imposed in the city center from 19:00 to 23:00. The measures affect parts of "23rd Infantry Shipchensky Regiment" Boulevard, "Prince Alexander Battenberg" Boulevard, and "Rose Valley" Boulevard. Additionally, the use of amateur drones is strictly prohibited throughout the festival.
Ищар винаги прави впечатление, но 30 години на сцената е сериозно ниво tbh. Надявам се дроновете да не развалят атмосферата тази вечер...
