The ancient site of Olympia is poised to make history as it hosts the first-ever European Airbadminton Championships in October 2026. This event places the sport at the heart of Olympism and puts Greece firmly at the center of the international sporting map.

The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has entrusted the Hellenic Federation of Badminton Clubs with the organization of the BWF AirBadminton European Championships 2026, along with a series of other important international events. The schedule includes:

  • AirBadminton European Championships: October 14-16, 2026
  • COMEBA AirBadminton Championships: October 17-18, 2026
  • Hellas International 2026: October 20-24, 2026
  • COMEBA Cup (Indoor): October 24-25, 2026

The successful bid for these events was made possible through the hard work of the Hellenic Federation, with the support of the Ministry of Sports and Deputy Minister Ioannis Vroutsis, as well as the unwavering backing of the Hellenic Olympic Committee and the International Olympic Academy. The unique nature of Airbadminton, combined with the prestigious venue of Ancient Olympia, creates ideal conditions for boosting sports tourism and showcasing Greece's rich cultural and sporting heritage on a global scale.

John Kapos, President of the Hellenic Federation of Badminton Clubs, expressed his gratitude: "Hosting these significant international events is a great honor for our country and recognizes the systematic work that has been done in recent years in Greek badminton. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Badminton World Federation for their trust and close collaboration, which allows us to host top events in Greece. We are particularly grateful to the Ministry of Sports and Deputy Minister Ioannis Vroutsis for their support and contribution to this major organizational effort."
