French cyclist Pol Manie spoke to the media after winning his second stage in the Giro d'Italia. Manie crossed the finish line first, reinforcing the positive impressions from the start of the Giro in Nesebar on May 8.
"It can't get any better. I must say I'm truly proud to have two stage victories, one day in the pink jersey, and now a victory in the cyclamen jersey. I think Bulgaria really fits me well, and yes, I'm leaving the country with a good feeling," shared Manie.
When asked about the stage itself, he responded: "It was another easy stage with only three riders in the breakaway, but the end was very fast because it took us some time to catch up with the strong breakaway, and then my team did an incredible job to put me in the best possible position in the last meters. Yes, I'm really happy to finish it this way," commented the French cyclist.
"Now I plan to enjoy these two victories and will try to continue in the same spirit," concluded Pol Manie, as cited by BGNEWS.
Pol Manie's love for Bulgaria is infectious, but do you think this could inspire more pro cyclists to visit and race in Bulgaria, or is it just a one-off success story? Let me know in the comments!
