The individual awards don’t matter; we’re champions, commented the left back of "the blues" who was selected as MVP
Levski Sofia won the Bulgarian championship in the under-20 men’s volleyball league, defeating perennial rivals CSKA 3-1 in the final. This victory marks the return of "the blues" to the top of the podium after a two-year absence.
The left back of Levski, Erik Georgiev, was selected as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament. The young volleyball player from "the blues" expressed that he is exceptionally happy to end his youth career as a champion. Here’s what he said to BGvolleyball.com after the victory:
What’s it like to win this championship?
Thank you! The feeling is incredible. I’m extremely elated. We’ve done an excellent job as a team. I’m thrilled to finish my youth career first and with this title.
I want to thank all the coaches, especially Hristo Tsvetanov. And I wish success to Levski’s men’s team for the next season.
What does this mean?
I’m extremely elated…Todor Skrimov is my idol, and I love and admire him…
How much sweeter is the title after defeating CSKA in the final?
3000 times sweeter! CSKA beat us twice during the season, but I’m delighted that we won in the final. We achieved what we wanted.
You were selected as MVP of the tournament, how does that feel?
Individual awards don’t matter to me. The most important thing is that we came first and are champions.
You made a significant contribution to the victory. Are you satisfied?
Yes. But it doesn’t matter! The important thing is that we defeated CSKA and I’m feeling immense joy.
You are ending the senior age group. What’s next?
We’ll see! That’s all I can say for now.
This victory over CSKA is monumental, especially for Erik and his teammates. The feeling must be indescribable. But what's next? Will they be able to replicate this success in the senior leagues? Stay tuned!
