Former national team captain and record holder for appearances (106) for Bulgaria, Stiliyan Petrov, is joining a cause initiated by the current captain of the national team, Kiril Despodov. Before heading to Burgas for the "Match of Hope," which will feature a star-studded lineup of international players, Petrov will travel to Despodov’s hometown of Kresna to meet with many children. This marks the second year Despodov has organized a football tournament for children in the Pirin region, and Petrov has accepted the invitation, bringing added joy to the young football fans. The event will take place the day before Children’s Day, giving the kids a chance to meet both Despodov and Petrov, a man who has inspired generations.

"I am incredibly happy to be part of the children's football tournament 'Bulgaria, Children, and Football' this year. I am delighted to confirm my presence at the second tournament, organized by the captain of the Bulgarian national team and my friend, Kiril Despodov. I look forward to seeing everyone in Kresna on May 31," Petrov said in a special video.

The tournament will be held at both football fields in the newly renovated courtyard of the St. Paisius Hilendaros University in Kresna. Despodov has been committed to bringing joy to children in his hometown for some time now, and since last year, he has been organizing the football tournament with the goal of inspiring the region's children. More surprises are expected to be unveiled by Despodov.

Following his appearance in Kresna on May 31, Petrov will focus on the upcoming football show with a large charitable purpose in Burgas. The second "Match of Hope," organized by the Stiliyan Petrov Foundation in Bulgaria, will take place on June 6 at 5 PM at the Lazur Stadium. Part of the proceeds will go towards the treatment of Luboslav Penev and Petar Hubev.
