Bulgarian Duo Secures Podium Finish in Burgas
Viliana Kostadinova and Kristian Manolov brought pride to Bulgaria by winning the bronze medal in the mixed pairs category at the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Cup held in Burgas. Guided by their personal coach Gergana Deneva, the pair delivered consistent performances throughout the competition. They navigated the qualifying rounds with strong balance and dynamic routines before securing their place on the podium with a combined final score of 27.410 points. Their achievement earned loud applause from the spectators at Arena Burgas.
The gold medal went to the Russian duo Elisaveta Medvedeva and Oleg Maiorov, who scored 29.010 points. Silver was claimed by Dinara Aisina and Artemiy Petrovskiy from Russia with 28.510 points. Other notable results in the mixed pairs category included the Polish pair Maya Mrozhek and Michal Skiba in fourth place, and Israeli competitors Rony Teller and Hen Banuz in fifth. Bulgaria’s second mixed pair, Ralitsa Kirova and Plamen Yanev, finished sixth, while Militsa Smolenska and Lyubomir Vasilev did not advance to the finals.
Strong Organization Praises and Future Outlook
Nedko Kostadinov, General Secretary of the Bulgarian Federation of Acrobatic Gymnastics, congratulated the athletes on their success. "This bronze medal came at the perfect moment," he stated. "Kostadinova and Manolov, who win medals at every international competition, have proven their mental strength. We can now look forward to a strong performance at the upcoming World Championships in Italy." He also thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Burgas Municipality for their continuous support in hosting elite events.
The competitors themselves remained humble about their achievement. Kristian Manolov noted, "We could have done better, but we are satisfied with our debut at this highest level against such fierce competition. There is still room for improvement." Kostadinova added, "I am happy with the bronze and our performance. Thank you to everyone for the support."
In other events, the Bulgarian women’s trio of Zhaklina Stoyanova, Margarita Todorova, and Proletina Ivanova finished 16th in qualifications. Gold in that category went to Belarus, silver to Russia, and bronze to Great Britain. The Bulgarian women’s pair of Lutsia Emilie Yankov and Siyana Kiriakova placed 14th. The event was praised for its high-quality organization, marking Burgas as a reliable host for international acrobatic gymnastics competitions.
