With only a few days left until the start of Giro d'Italia - Grande Partenza Bulgaria 2026, one of the three major cycling tours in the world, the first three stages will run from the Black Sea to Sofia. The tour will also pass through the Pazardzhik region.

The safe conduct of all stages requires a massive, coordinated, and professional effort from the police teams. In this context, the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, in collaboration with other state and municipal bodies, has set up the necessary organization for the third stage, which will take place on May 10th, as the route will also pass through the region.

According to Mirko Stoyanov, spokesperson for the Pazardzhik Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, nearly 260 uniformed officers will be involved in the security operations. In this regard, the residents and visitors of the region are informed about the temporary traffic restrictions that will apply to both pedestrians and all types of vehicles.

The following roads will be closed in stages:

  • I-8 highway at the Stamboliski interchange
  • I-8 highway at the Malo Konare interchange
  • I-8 highway at the entrance to Pazardzhik
  • Plovdivska Street
  • Gen. Gurko Street
  • Bulgaria Boulevard
  • Mariitsa River Bridge
  • Zvenichevo village road
  • Main I-8 highway at Zvenichevo
  • Main I-8 highway at September
  • Main I-8 highway at Belovo
  • Main I-8 highway at Momina Klisura

Roads within the region will be closed between 10:00 and 15:30 on May 10th. Police units will be deployed throughout the route to ensure no pedestrians, vehicles of any kind, parking, or lingering are allowed in the race area. The police request the public's understanding for the inconvenience caused, as all restrictions are in place to prevent incidents and ensure the smooth running of the event.
