World Champions and Medalists Dominate Strong Competitions in Dresden
The Goldenes Oval event in Dresden, part of the World Athletics Continental Tour with a "silver label," will host a lineup of world-class athletes on May 31. Among the participants in the javelin throw is the world silver medalist Merlin Hummel (82.77m personal best), a local favorite who will face serious competition from three other athletes who have surpassed the 80-meter mark.
Hummel will compete against the three-time European champion Voytech Novicki from Poland (82.52m), the European junior champion Armin Shabadash from Hungary (80.95m), and the Czech Vladimir Misluchuk (80.69m), who unexpectedly won the European Cup in Nicosia in March.
The current Olympic champion in shot put, Yemisi Marby (20.37m), will face strong international competition. Her opponents include Maggie Yu (20.45m) from the USA and Auria Dongmo (20.43m) from Portugal, who holds both world and European indoor titles.
The high jump event will feature the current European indoor champion, Mennow Vloon from the Netherlands, who will compete against Turkey's record holder Ersoy Sasmaci and leading German athletes Torben Bleh and Bo Kanda Lita Behre, a silver medalist from the 2022 European Championships in Munich, following Armand Duplantis.
In the discus throw, Australian Mat Denie and German Steffen Richter will renew their growing rivalry. Both achieved results of 74.04m and .00m, respectively, in Ramona in April. In the 100m sprint, the 2022 European champion Jina Lukenkemper will compete against Maya McCoy from the USA, who also has a sub-11-second result.

The European champion Malajka Mihambu will be the star in the long jump event, showcasing the depth and strength of the competition.
