Neluțu Varga has delivered his verdict on the future of Daniel Pancu at CFR Cluj. Despite qualifying the team for European competitions and extending his contract automatically for another two years, the coach's position remains uncertain. Upon his arrival, Pancu expressed dissatisfaction with the conditions at the club, demanding top-tier facilities and support. The club's president, Neluțu Varga, is not very optimistic about retaining Pancu, whom he recently criticized.
Pancu's Uncertain Future
CFR Cluj and Daniel Pancu have been in negotiations for several weeks. There has been speculation about Pancu's potential return to Rapid, but nothing has materialized since Costel Gâlcă's departure. There have also been disagreements between Pancu and the club president, with Varga being upset that he might lose a coach who managed to turn around a struggling team at the beginning of the season.
Final Decision Looms
Varga declared to Fanatik: "I have done everything I could. I gave him a clear message that I want him to continue at CFR Cluj and stay, but from what I feel, I believe Daniel Pancu will leave. If he leaves, we will find another solution for a coach. I want him to stay, but the decision is his." The club's president, Iuliu Mureșan, has also expressed reservations about Pancu's future. Pancu has stated that he will inform the club by Friday of his decision. "After our recent discussions with ‘Pancone,’ who I understand very well and appreciate… I feel he will leave, but it's not certain. Yesterday, we were talking about the camp and certain players, so… I assure you that by the time we start training, we will have a coach. Pancu promised to inform us by Friday," Mureșan told DigiSport. Daniel Pancu, 48, could potentially sign with Rapid, who are searching for a new coach after a disastrous season.
This is a major decision for CFR Cluj! How can they let go of a coach who's turned the team around? It's a huge risk. What do you think, will Pancu stay or go?
