University of Craiova has secured the Romanian championship title by defeating U Cluj 5-0 in the penultimate playoff round, known as the "championship final," at the “Ion Oblemenco” arena. The players and coaching staff celebrated the title in front of 30,000 fans, following their recent victory in the Romanian Cup. This triumph marks the team's return to the top after 35 years.

Apart from the trophy and promised bonuses from the club leadership, the players and Portuguese coach Filipe Coelho will be awarded the title of "honorary citizens" of Craiova during the city’s celebration next month.

The announcement was made by Craiova's mayor, Lia Olguţa Vasilescu, who witnessed the 5-0 victory from the stands. She praised the team's achievement and its impact on the city, emphasizing that the players serve as role models for the younger generation, inspiring them to pursue sports.

The celebration continued late into the night, with thousands of fans gathering in the city center, singing and drinking, while the team celebrated at a local venue in Preajba.

This evening, starting at 7:30 PM, the team will parade through the city center, presenting the trophies won. The route will start from Cantonment at 7:00 PM and will wind through Blvd. Ilie Balaci, Blvd. Ştirbei Vodă, Str. Matei Basarab, Str. Bibescu, Str. Brestei, Calea Bucureşti, Str. A I Cuza (University), and end at Piaţa Mihai Viteazul.
