UFC 328: Did Chimaev Pass the Weigh-In? Was Strickland’s Win Deserved?

The studio of "Sportal Fight Club" hosted discussions not only leading up to UFC 328 but also following the bouts held in New Jersey over the past weekend.

Special guest in the studio was one of the commentators of the MMA bouts in the Bulgarian broadcast and sports journalist — Georgi Petrov. The founder of the YouTube channel "Неформално с Георги Петков" offered his opinion and analysis of the main card fights of UFC 328.

Petrov commented on a controversial situation that arose before the bouts: the official weigh-in of Khamzat Chimaev. The journalist expressed doubts about the accurate measurement of the former champion's weight, as the Chechen fighter stepped on the scale for only a brief moment. The mechanical scale did not hold the championship weight of 83.9 kg for long.

Petrov and Tonov also commented on the judges' decision, which sparked much debate and dissatisfaction among MMA fans. With a two-to-one judges' score, Sean Strickland was declared the winner after a five-round bout in the octagon at "Prudential Center" in Newark. Strickland landed more strikes, but he was knocked down nine times by Chimaev. The Chechen fighter was more dominant in ground control time and pressured his opponent in standing for most of the fight.

Tonov and Petrov also discussed other factors related to the performance of the two fighters — weight cutting, injuries, and psychological pressure.
