A gala dinner was organized at Çırağan Palace in Istanbul before the UEFA Europa League final match between German team Freiburg and English team Aston Villa, which will be played at Tüpraş Stadium in Istanbul.
According to a statement from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF), the gala dinner was attended by Youth and Sports Minister Osman Aşkın Bak, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin, TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu, representatives of Freiburg and Aston Villa, and many other important figures from the football world.
Minister Bak emphasized Turkey's successful organization of high-level events, saying, "This beautiful city is used to hosting major events. We will successfully organize the UEFA Europa League final. Next year, we will host the UEFA Conference League final. We can say we are already prepared for the joint Italy-Turkey UEFA European Championship in 2032. We believe we will organize the European Championship finals to the best of our abilities."
TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu highlighted Istanbul's history of hosting important finals and congratulated the TFF for bringing significant events to the country. He wished the best of luck to Freiburg and Aston Villa, stating, "We have successfully hosted UEFA Champions League finals in 2005 and 2023, the UEFA Cup final in 2009, the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2013, and the UEFA Super Cup in 2019. Each event has further strengthened our country's power in the sporting world and its international reliability. The Europa League final will once again demonstrate Turkey's strength in international sporting events."
Hacıosmanoğlu also noted Turkey's renewed sports infrastructure, including new stadiums in many cities, and praised the country's logistics and hospitality capabilities. He mentioned the upcoming 2032 European Championship, saying, "Our country, which has embraced different beliefs and cultures for centuries, will host football fans from all over the world. The European Championship will enhance our multi-cultural identity and take our organizational skills to a higher level, further strengthening Turkey's position in world football."
It's amazing to see Turkey hosting such major tournaments again and again. But how long will it take for Turkey to finally win a UEFA title? It's about time they clinched one, don't you think?
