On Sunday, May 24, the Tumane Monastery will celebrate two significant milestones – 90 years since the discovery of the relics of Saint Zosima Tumanski the Wonderworker and 10 years since the revival of the Great Tumane Liturgy. Archbishop of the monastery, Dimitrije Plecevic, has invited believers to gather for the event, promising an exceptional feeling of divine blessing.
Tumane Monastery, one of the most frequented and spiritually significant sites of the Serbian Orthodox Church, will again be the place of a great gathering of the faithful for the feast of Saint Zosima Tumanski – a saint whose name has for decades drawn thousands of pilgrims seeking prayers, comfort, and spiritual strength.
Archbishop Dimitrije Plecevic, speaking to RTS, noted that Saint Zosima Tumanski has been one of the most revered saints in the last few decades. "God has blessed the revival of his holy memory in our time, even though he is a saint from the time of Prince Lazar, from the distant 14th century. The love of the people has recognized him, and he has recognized the people," said Archbishop Plecevic.
Speaking about the gathering, he emphasized that it was introduced during the time of Russian monks.
"They discovered his holy relics over 90 years ago and then established the tradition of an annual liturgical procession to his birthplace, a kilometer away from the Tumane Monastery. When our brotherhood arrived in 2017, we revived this tradition, and for the past 10 years, it has been one of the largest living gatherings in our local church," said the Archbishop of Tumane Monastery.
He invited the people to join the gathering on Sunday:
"The blessing of God is exceptionally felt then. Anyone who can be part of the gathering should come to experience the living fiery prayer and pillar of faith from the earth to heaven when thousands of people gather in the name of one and at one place."
When asked what he tells believers who turn to him when they lose all hope, Archbishop Plecevic says that all strength and everything that needs to be renewed will come if they turn to God and put all their strength in Him.
"When we find ourselves facing a wall and a trial we cannot overcome, then, when we can no longer do anything, when our hands are tied, God will miraculously act and lift that burden from us. Tumane Monastery is a living witness to this," concluded Archbishop Dimitrije Plecevic of Tumane Monastery.
