Two Arsenal Players May Miss Out on Championship Medal
After a dramatic season-long battle with Manchester City, Arsenal secured their first Premier League title in 22 years. The club was crowned champions after Manchester City could only manage a 1:1 draw against Bournemouth, allowing Mikel Arteta's men to clinch the title with a round to spare.
The North London club led the standings for most of the season and will lift the prestigious trophy after their upcoming match against Crystal Palace. Medals will be distributed among the coaching staff, players, and club personnel at the discretion of the management.
According to Rule C.13 of the Premier League Handbook, Arsenal will receive 40 commemorative medals. Any player who has made at least five appearances in league matches this season automatically qualifies for a medal. The club can request additional medals, but this requires approval from the Premier League board and is only granted if more than 39 players have met the five-game threshold.
Currently, 24 players in the Arsenal squad have accumulated five or more league appearances, including the 16-year-old Max Daumon, who has five matches to his name. However, two first-team players are not guaranteed their medals. Goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga has not made a single Premier League appearance for Arsenal, despite playing in 11 cup matches. Similarly, third-choice goalkeeper Tommy Setford has only represented the club for three minutes in the FA Cup this season.
Teenager Makes History with Championship Title
Despite these challenges, Arsenal is celebrating a historic achievement with the young talent Max Daumon securing a place in club history with the championship title.
This is a bittersweet moment for Arsenal. Celebrating a long-awaited title with young talent is amazing, but it's heartbreaking to see some players miss out on the medal. How do you think the club should handle this situation?
