Thomas Tuchel’s recent squad selection for the England national team has left some players stunned, particularly defender Harry Maguire. Maguire, a Manchester United player, expressed his disappointment after not being selected for the upcoming matches.
“I was convinced that this summer I could have a significant role in the team after a good season. This decision has shocked me. I have been waiting for the SP all year and to represent my country. I wish all the best to the players,” Maguire stated.
Exclusions from the Squad
The English media reported on Thursday that Thomas Tuchel's official squad list, to be released on Friday, would not include Harry Maguire and Fikayo Tomori. These two defensive players had been called up by Tuchel for the recent friendly matches against Japan and Uruguay.
Maguire, aged 33, has made 66 appearances for the national team and scored seven goals. Fikayo Tomori, who plays for Milan, has six caps for England.
World Cup Group L
England is in Group L for the World Cup, alongside Croatia, Ghana, and Panama. The first match of the group stage will be between England and Croatia on June 17 in Dallas, starting at 10 PM CET.
The decision to leave out experienced players like Maguire raises questions about Tuchel's strategy and the potential for younger players to step up in the international scene.
honestly didn't see that coming lol, wonder who's gonna step up now
