Stefanos Tsitsipas secured a tough straight-sets victory over Giovanni Mpetshi Pericard to advance to the second round of the ATP 250 Geneva tournament. The Greek star will now face American No.4 seed Taylor Fritz.

Tsitsipas qualified for the second round of the ATP 250 Geneva Open after defeating France’s Giovanni Mpetshi Pericard in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8). The Greek No.1, playing with a wild card, needed one hour and 55 minutes to overcome the world No.80 in a competitive match. Tsitsipas broke early in the first set and held on to win it 6-4. The second set went to a tie-break, where Tsitsipas fought back from 6-7 down to seal the victory 10-8.

In the round of 16, Tsitsipas will face American Taylor Fritz, the No.4 seed, who received a bye in the first round. This is Tsitsipas’ first grass-court tournament of the 2026 season as he builds momentum ahead of the French Open and Wimbledon.
