The Czech Football Association has imposed severe penalties on Slavia Prague following a chaotic end to their derby match against Sparta Prague. Slavia was fined 10 million Czech koruna (approximately $483,000), had their stadium closed for the next four home games, and suffered a 0-3 loss in the match after supporters rushed the field in the final minutes. The association also fined Sparta 600,000 Czech koruna for their fans setting fires and causing damage to the stadium.

The financial penalty for Slavia, who lost the match by forfeit, represents the maximum amount allowed under league rules. "We accept the decision of the disciplinary commission with respect and are fully aware of the seriousness of the situation and the responsibility associated with organizing a match," Slavia said in a statement.

The incident on Saturday generated headlines in global media after videos of Slavia supporters throwing flares and attacking Sparta players went viral. Slavia President Jaroslav Tvrzík called the incident a "disgrace" and announced that the club would close the North Stand, where diehard supporters sit, indefinitely.

In addition to the stadium closure, Slavia has suspended striker Tomáš Hori and midfielder David Dudera for the remainder of the season for their actions during the match, in which both received red cards. Tvrzík stated that neither player would play for the Czech champions again.

The derby was halted when hundreds of home supporters rushed the field in the final minutes, as Slavia led 3-2 and were moments away from securing the Czech league title. Supporters broke through security barriers during added time, carrying burning flares and running toward the visiting supporters’ section. Pyrotechnics were thrown onto the stands as players from both teams tried to leave the field.

Czech police intervened to restore order and announced that they had started a criminal investigation for suspected disorderly conduct. Officials confirmed that Sparta goalkeeper Jakub Suřůvčík was among those attacked by home supporters and had been struck by a flare.
