As the 2025-26 Süper Lig season concluded, the focus has shifted to transfers. The administrators of all clubs, particularly the Big Four—Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, Galatasaray, and Trabzonspor—are gearing up to bolster their squads. However, a major financial and logistical challenge looms: the return of loaned players.
MASSIVE RETURN OF LOANED PLAYERS
The Big Four clubs loaned a total of 46 players to other teams in the 2025-26 season. Of these, 44 players are expected to return to their original clubs, with a combined value of 152.8 million Euros. Most of these players underperformed, and the clubs anticipate re-loaning them for the upcoming season.
GALATASARAY'S ZANIOLO DILEMMA
Galatasaray, in particular, faces a significant challenge with the return of 12 players, excluding Wilfried Zaha whose contract will expire. Among them are high-value players like Nicolo Zaniolo (13 million Euros), Victor Nelsson (7.5 million Euros), and Elias Jelert, Carlos Cuesta, and Przemysław Frankowski (each valued at 7 million Euros).
FENERBAHÇE'S FOREIGN PLAYER DILEMMA
Fenerbahçe’s incoming new president and board will be confronted with the return of 11 players, totaling 41.8 million Euros. The most expensive are Sofyan Amrabat (12 million Euros), Cengiz Ünder, and Diego Carlos (each 6 million Euros). The presence of six foreign players among these will complicate matters further.
BEŞIKTAŞ AND TRABZONSPOR'S FUTURE DECISIONS
Beşiktaş is expecting the return of 10 players, valued at 33 million Euros, except for Semih Kılıçsoy (13 million Euros), who has a good chance to stay. Ernest Muci was bought by Trabzonspor for 8.5 million Euros. Trabzonspor will have to decide which of the 11 returning players, valued at 31.25 million Euros, will remain with the team next season.
This is a massive headache for the clubs, especially with such high-value players. How will they balance their books and keep the squad competitive? The next transfer window is going to be wild!
