Bijelo-sivo Croatian Olympian from Tokyo, former world and European gymnastics champion Tin Srbić (29) has spoken about the issues in his sport, particularly the scandal involving the Croatian Skiing Federation, where 30 million euros have gone missing.

- This is a disgrace for the whole country, not just for sports. My mind can't grasp how someone could do such a thing. I don't understand the planet where this happens. How could they not feel ashamed? People who do this can't be happier than me. I go to sleep fearing someone might expose me for doing something I shouldn’t. How can that be a good life? - Srbić said in a podcast for Sports News.

- Or, I don’t know, if I had to run around Kazakhstan, I would just kill myself. I don’t want to live such a life. Everything comes back, everything is paid for. There’s something bigger than us that returns the energy you give. I don’t wish harm to anyone, I’m not that kind of person. It’s good that these things are being revealed so they can improve. For us in the Olympic committee, it’s really good, not terrible. OK, it could be better. I hope this will make things better from now on - he continued.

Croatia honors Olympic gold medalists with 40,000 euros, while neighboring countries offer significantly more. Slovenia gives 70,000 euros, Hungary and Italy each offer 180,000 euros, and Serbia provides 200,000 euros.

- No one can explain to me why we don't have more than that. It’s ridiculous given the budget. You won’t win 15 million Olympic medals to split an unknown amount of money. You’ll win five to ten medals across different Games, so it’s hard to get more at each. I hope we can get more, but now I’ll just say the number, 500,000 euros for gold. You might win one or two golds, not ten, so athletes should at least secure something in their lives, like buying a house, for example - Srbić stated and emphasized:

- I won’t call it shameful, but I don’t understand it. I’ve never understood it. Wait, hasn’t anyone in power ever said: "Come on, let’s change this, it’s not good." I’m not accusing anyone and I always say that I’m happy with my life and that it’s not the most important thing in the world, but it would be nice to secure some extra things in life. This isn’t an appeal, but come on, people...
