"Our dear nation, which sacrificed their lives for the independence and future of our country, under the leadership of the founder of the Republic, Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, crowned the fire of independence lit in Samsun with victory; once again declared to the world that no power can chain our will. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, by declaring May 19, the symbol of our independence struggle, as Youth and Sports Day, showed his trust in the future of our country and the hope in our young generation. On this meaningful day when the foundations of our independence epic were laid, I commemorate with love, gratitude, and respect Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and our dear martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country; and I celebrate Youth and Sports Day with my nation and Turkish youth."
