The Captain's Final Bow
The speculation ends here. Dušan Dušan Tadić, the man who wore the armband for years, has drawn a line in the sand. He is done. Done with the national team. Done with the Orlova calls. When Veljko Paunović took the helm as the new head coach of Serbia national football team, rumors swirled that the veteran number 10 might don the crest one last time. Tadić just laughed them off. The door is shut.
"They called me multiple times before, even under Dragan Stojković," Tadić told Mocartsport. "But once I decided it was over, I didn't think I should come back. It was beautiful while it lasted. Two World Cups, one Euro. Could it have been more? Sure. But compared to those who played before us, I am happy. Being part of this team is the greatest feeling. But that isn't the only reason I walked away."
Passing the Torch
It wasn't just about rest. It was about responsibility. Tadić craves the burden of leadership. He loves having the weight of the team on his shoulders. But that weight? It crushes you over time. He wants the next generation to feel that pressure. To understand what it means to be the captain, to hear the things no one else hears, to do the work that stays invisible but keeps the ship afloat.
"I want to see others take that responsibility," he said. "It’s not easy. Being a leader is different. Things go through you. You hear a lot. You do a lot that isn't seen, but it’s vital. Eventually, it tires you. Especially with everything that happened in our team over the years. But it was a beautiful experience. I’m grateful, even for the hard moments."
The era of Tadić is over. The next chapter begins now.
Tadić pravo je čudo što je toliko izdržao tbh, ta odgovornost bi mene slomila za mesec dana. Sad je vreme da ovi mlađi dokažu da mogu da nose taj teret, videćemo da li će uspeti...
