A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey today, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

No injuries or material damage have been reported officially at this point.

Witnesses have described the earthquake as strong, with chandeliers swinging. The tremor was also felt in Syria and Cyprus.

Citizens Flee to the Streets

Citizens living hundreds of kilometers from the epicenter report intense shaking, as visible in their social media posts. Many residents fled to the streets in panic, awaiting aftershocks.

The epicenter was located 10 kilometers deep and 21 kilometers from the city of Malatya in eastern Turkey. Malatya was one of the ten regions affected by the devastating earthquake in 2023, with the epicenter in Pazarcik.

The earthquake struck again today, with witnesses reporting strong shaking and chandeliers swaying. The tremor was also felt in Syria and Cyprus.
