American golfer Jordan Spieth made a strong move during the second round of The CJ Cup Byron Nelson, shooting nine birdies to reach 12 under par. However, he still trails the tournament leader, South Korea's Si Woo Kim, who had an extraordinary round of 60 on Friday.

Kim's Stellar Performance

Si Woo Kim, the current leader, is at 18 under par after a remarkable second-round score of 60. His round included 12 birdies and ended with a bogey at the 18th hole. This performance puts him five strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, and the rest of the field.

Spieth's Birdie Surge

Three-time major winner Jordan Spieth started the back nine with six consecutive birdies, leading to a nine-under 62 in the second round. He credited a crucial par save at the 18th for setting up his birdie binge, which started with a 12-footer. Spieth's impressive round included hitting the first four fairways after struggling off the tee on his front nine.

Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion, also had a strong second round, shooting a 63 to reach 17 under. His playing partner, Brooks Koepka, who opened with a 63, shot a round of 69 to sit back at 10 under.

During Spieth's round, his playing partner Sungjae Im hit a hole-in-one at the seventh hole, which Spieth described as one of the prettiest he had ever seen. Im also added another eagle with a 14-foot putt at the ninth.

"I was hurting my head trying to figure out what our best ball was," Spieth said. "I think it was 57, which is pretty good."
