Sloba Vasić's Rise and Fall: A Star's Troubled Journey

Serbian singer Slobodan Sloba Vasić recently found himself at the center of a scandal after causing chaos at Belgrade airport, where he was removed in an intoxicated state instead of flying to a scheduled performance in Circus. His life story, from a young boy singing in cafes to a star battling anxiety, is filled with incredible highs and painful lows.

Following the airport incident, Sloba Vasić was urgently transferred to the Urgent Center for gastric lavage, and then to the VMA. The real drama unfolded when he was transported directly to the neuropsychiatric hospital "Dr Laza Lazarević". The singer is now under strict medical supervision as the therapy he is undergoing strictly prohibits mixing with alcohol.

Excessive Celebrations and "People Outside the Law"

Sloba’s story begins in Subotica, where he was already playing the harmonica and singing in local cafes at the age of 14. His rapid success and fame came when he was 17, winning third place in "Zvezdama Granda" in 2008 and recording megahits like "Anonimne" and "Moje bivše drage."

However, money and fame took their toll. Sloba admitted to having up to five performances a week, sometimes singing in freezing temperatures, while his immense popularity led him into problematic social circles.

"That immense popularity causes everyone to want to be your friend. You go to perform at various places, and once you get into the company of people outside the law, you can’t choose anymore," Sloba explained, adding that he was obsessed with expensive cars and spending money in his youth.

Panic Attacks on Stages and Surgeries

The enormous earnings and pressure led him to severe psychological distress and severe anxiety. Vasić openly admitted to experiencing debilitating panic attacks during performances in front of thousands of people.

"I don’t know where I am, whether to get off the stage... I drank 3-4 whiskeys in a row just to get through it," the singer recalled his worst period that lasted about a year.

In addition to his psyche, his fame took a toll on his body. For years, he battled obesity, undergoing multiple surgeries, including a failed skin removal operation, before finally undergoing gastric reduction surgery in Turkey last year.
