Performances at significant matches, such as the Champions League final, have become commonplace, but this will be the first halftime show for a World Cup final, according to BBC. This marks a significant departure from traditional World Cup events.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated in March that the halftime show at the final match "will be a historic moment for the World Cup, worthy of the biggest event on Earth." The World Cup finals will take place from June 11 to July 19.

Halftime shows have become a mainstay of major sporting events in the United States, particularly at the Super Bowl. Madonna headlined the halftime show at the 2012 Super Bowl, while Shakira shared the stage with Jennifer Lopez at the 2020 Super Bowl.

Last year, FIFA organized a halftime show for the Club World Cup final when Chelsea defeated Pari Sen Zerman 3-0.
