Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named the NBA's Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive season, cementing his status as one of the league's top players. The Canadian star wins the award for the second year in a row, making him the 14th player in NBA history to secure back-to-back MVP honors. The last player to achieve this feat was Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons.

In this season's voting, Gilgeous-Alexander dominated with 83 first-place votes out of 100 possible, amassing a total of 939 points. Jokić secured second place with 10 first-place votes and 634 points, while San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama came in third with 589 points and five first-place votes.

During the 2025-26 campaign, Gilgeous-Alexander averaged 31.1 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game, playing in 68 games. He was a key contributor to the Thunder's success, helping them finish the regular season with the best record in the league, 64 wins and only 18 losses. Additionally, he became the first player since Wilt Chamberlain in the 1963-64 season to score at least 20 points in every game of a season in which he played.

The Thunder also have a chance to win the championship for the second consecutive year. They face off against the San Antonio Spurs, led by Victor Wembanyama, in the Western Conference finals.
