Severe Weather Alert Issued by RHMZ
As Serbia prepares for a heatwave with temperatures expected to reach 30 degrees Celsius by the weekend, the RHMZ weather agency has issued a severe weather warning for storms and heavy rain. According to the forecast, the current week will see fluctuating temperatures and unstable conditions, with the possibility of heavy rain and thunderstorms, especially in the mountainous and southeastern regions.
Meteorologist Marko Čubrilo predicts that by the end of the week, the weather will become more stable. He also notes that a cold front is expected to move through on Tuesday, May 26, bringing cooler temperatures. However, the weather will likely turn for the worse again around June 3, with colder air masses expected to hit the region.
For the coming days, meteorologists have predicted variable and unstable conditions. In the central, eastern, and southeastern parts of Serbia, heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected, along with strong north and northwest winds. The RHMZ has issued an orange weather alert for these areas, indicating dangerous weather conditions.
Weather Forecast for the Coming Days
Friday and Saturday (May 22-23): Variable and unstable conditions are expected, with heavy rain and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. The day temperatures will range from 20 to 27 degrees Celsius.
Sunday and the following week (May 24-30): Warmer conditions are expected, with temperatures ranging from 23 to 30 degrees Celsius and mostly sunny skies. Occasional short-term rain or thunderstorms may occur, particularly in mountainous areas.
Meteorologist Ivan Ristić notes that the weather models predict stronger cooling towards the end of May and the beginning of June. He also mentions that a cold air mass is expected to arrive on Sunday, May 31, after a period of warmer temperatures.
With the severe weather warnings in place, residents are advised to stay indoors during the storms and be prepared for potential flooding and strong winds.
