Serbian Superliga Star Mirko Milikić Celebrates Career Milestone
The Serbian Superliga season has nearly come to an end, with the top 11 players of the Serbian football championship announced on Tuesday. Among the best defenders in the league is Mirko Milikić, who plays for Železničar.
Former Crvena Zvezda youth player, Milikić, addressed the media and shared his thoughts.
"I am very proud to be a part of a Serbian Superliga team. No individual award means anything without a solid team behind you. I want to thank my teammates, coaches, and family who have always been with me."
Milikić has been one of the pleasant surprises of the Serbian Superliga this season, with his standout performances in Železničar's uniform leading to a significant career milestone—changing his sports citizenship. His football journey has taken him through Inđija, Pirot, Celje, and Žarkovo before he exploded onto the scene in Pančevo and became one of the best defenders in domestic competition.
Milikić played for the Montenegrin national team in junior categories, but after a fantastic season, he decided to switch his allegiance to Serbia. The decision has been confirmed on the FIFA website, allowing selector Veljko Paunović to count on this talented defender moving forward.
This is a huge deal for Serbian football! Can you imagine having a player of Milikić's caliber on the national team? It's going to change everything. What do you think about this move?
