A significant crisis has unfolded in Serbian basketball over the past few weeks, marked by a severe conflict within the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS) Assembly, where many delegates have voted against President Nebojša Čović and call for his replacement. The delegates demanded Čović's resignation due to inappropriate statements about other KSS members. In a vote, 21 delegates supported the motion, while only one, Zoran Filipović, opposed it, arguing that this action violated interim measures.

Long-time player and later administrator for Partizan, Dragan Todorić, commented on the situation for Sport klub, expressing his concerns about the future of the sport: "To my knowledge, never has there been such a situation in the national basketball house. I fear this could follow the path of the Water Polo Federation, where players did not publicly defend the sport they were involved in. This is not good for our sport, which, along with water polo, is among the most decorated in Serbia."
