Dinamo defender Scott McKenna (29) has been named among the 26 players selected to represent Scotland at the upcoming World Cup. McKenna, a regular for the national team with 49 appearances under his belt, was a predictable choice for manager Scott McKenna's World Cup squad. This will be McKenna’s first World Cup appearance for Scotland, which last participated in 1998, although the team has competed in the past two European Championships, where McKenna was also a part of the squad.
Seventh SHNL Player on the World Cup Roster
McKenna has also become the seventh player from the SHNL (Croatian First League) to be called up for the World Cup. Croatia will be represented by Dominik Livaković (Dinamo) and Toni Fruk (Rijeka), while Bosnia and Herzegovina will have Martin Zlomislić (Rijeka), Osman Hadžikić (Slaven Belupo), and Stjepan Radeljić (Rijeka). Jordan's national team has also called up Ibrahim Sabra (Lokomotiva).
It is expected that more players from the SHNL, particularly Ismael Bennacer (Algeria, Dinamo) and Niko Sigur (Canada, Hajduk), will also receive national team calls.
This is huge for Scott McKenna and Dinamo! A World Cup appearance is a dream come true. I can't wait to see how he performs on the biggest stage. Will he be the hero Dinamo fans hope for? Let's see!
