The revered Belt of the Mother of God has arrived in Belgrade, having been transported from Nikola Tesla Airport to the Resurrection Church. The sacred relic was accompanied by the venerable Archimandrite Jefrem, the igumen of the Vatoped monastery.

Large Crowds Gather to Welcome the Sacred Relic

A large crowd of faithful gathered in front of the Resurrection Church to welcome the Belt of the Mother of God. Among them were Patriarch Porphyrius, Bishop Dositej, the church elders, and numerous Serbian Orthodox clergy and faithful who had been waiting in long lines to pay their respects.

A solemn welcome was held, with the singing of the Serbian national anthem and the hymn in honor of the Mother of God.

The Belt will be on display in the Resurrection Church, where the faithful will have the opportunity to venerate it. On Spasovdan (May 21), the relic will be transferred to the Church of Saint Sava.

Patriarch Addresses the Crowds

Patriarch Porphyrius addressed the gathered crowd before the evening service began.

Faithful Receive Blessed Ribbons

The faithful gathered in the Resurrection Church to venerate the Belt and receive blessed ribbons, which were distributed with instructions in six languages.

Earlier in the day, Patriarch Porphyrius and President Aleksandar Vučić had welcomed the Belt at Nikola Tesla Airport. The relic will lead the Spasovdan procession through central Belgrade streets the following day.
