Russian forces conducted a combined drone and missile attack on central and southern Ukraine on the night of May 18. The attack resulted in one death and injuries to dozens of people, including several children. According to Ukrainian officials, the attacks injured at least 30 people, including at least three children. In Odesa, drones hit a residential building, a school, and a kindergarten, injuring two children and a 59-year-old man. In Dnipro, 18 people were injured, including a two-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy. In the Zaporizhzhia region, three people were injured, and in the Kherson region, one person was killed and nine were injured.
Fires in Dnipro
In Dnipro, between 2 and 3 AM local time, multiple explosions were reported by the public service Suspilne, while Ukrainian air forces warned of approaching Russian missiles. The governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Oleksandr Hanzha, stated that a 24-story residential building was hit, and fires broke out in several locations in the city. Hanzha also reported that at least 18 people were injured, including a two-year-old girl and a ten-year-old boy.
Injuries in Kherson
In the southern Kherson region, one person was killed and nine were injured in the attacks, according to regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin.
Russia continues to target Ukrainian energy, transportation, and civilian infrastructure with nightly strikes.
