Russia has launched a major nuclear exercise involving nearly 65,000 troops, over 200 missile launchers, and eight strategic submarines, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense. The exercise will run from today until May 21. The primary objective is to prepare and utilize nuclear forces under the threat of aggression.

The exercise will include over 64,000 military personnel, more than 7,800 pieces of military and special equipment, including over 200 missile launchers, over 140 aircraft, 73 ships, and 13 submarines, including eight strategic missile submarines.

Russia’s armed forces will conduct the drills from today until May 21, focusing on the preparation and use of nuclear forces under the threat of aggression. The Strategic Rocket Forces and long-range aviation will participate in the exercise.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Strategic Rocket Forces, Northern and Pacific Fleets, long-range aviation command, and units from the Leningrad and Central Military Districts will all be involved.

The drills will take place from May 19 to 21, 2026, with the primary aim of preparing and utilizing nuclear forces in the face of aggressive threats.
