Russell Claims Sprint Victory Amid Team Tensions

George Russell secured a thrilling victory in the Canadian Grand Prix Sprint, edging out Lando Norris and team-mate Kimi Antonelli. The win came after a contentious battle with Antonelli, who expressed his frustration over the radio, feeling he was forced off the track by Russell during their battle for position.

Starting from pole position, Russell maintained the lead while Antonelli, the world championship leader, followed closely behind. Their battle escalated on lap six, where the pair nearly made contact. Antonelli attempted to overtake Russell at Turn 1 but was forced off track, leading him to bail out before Turn 2.

Antonelli's Frustration and Loss of Position

Antonelli's frustration was evident as he repeatedly went off track, culminating in him losing his second-place position to Norris. Despite the trio being closely matched for the remainder of the 23-lap race, Russell held on to secure the win, gaining two points on Antonelli and reducing the latter's championship lead to 18 points.

The final attempt by Antonelli to pass Norris at the start of the final lap ended in another off-track excursion. With the victory, Russell sets the stage for Sunday's main event in Montreal, where Antonelli will look to reclaim ground.
