Russell Takes Sprint Qualifying in Montreal

The Mercedes duo of George Russell and Andrea Kimi Antonelli claimed the first two positions in the Sprint Qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. The Brit secured pole position with a time of 1:12.965 minutes in the final third phase when the pilots raced with soft tires. Antonelli finished only 0.068 seconds behind. McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri completed the top four, recording very close times. Norris finished 0.315 seconds behind the pole position, while Piastri was 0.334 seconds back.

Antonelli and Russell Dominate, Disasters for Albon and Ocon

Completing the top six were the Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, with Hamilton finishing 0.361 seconds behind the pole position. The top ten also included Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Isak Hajjar, Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls), and Carlos Sainz (Williams). Russell was the fastest in the second phase but had earlier struggles with his pace. With the medium-hard tires, Antonelli was faster in the first part.

Nikola Tsvetkov Fights to Fourth in Montreal Qualifying

The qualifying session was interrupted due to Fernando Alonso's (Aston Martin) accident in the second phase, who was unable to brake in time for the third turn, crashing into the safety barriers. As in the previous Miami qualifying session, the Audi drivers once again finished close to the top ten, with Nico Hülkenberg finishing 11th and Gabriel Botteghi 12th.
