Patron of Universitatea Craiova, Mihai Rotaru, did not miss the opportunity to give Mirel Rădoi a "moral slap" for accepting to coach FCSB this season. Rădoi began the season at Universitatea Craiova but left in November. He prepared FCSB for the play-out, which drew criticism from Rotaru.

Universitatea Craiova achieved a significant event this season. Within four days, they defeated U Cluj twice: in the final of the Romanian Cup on penalty kicks and in the Superliga. Mihai Rotaru, who has been an investor in Universitatea Craiova since 2013, when the team found its new identity, is excited and very happy after the team, coached by Filipe Coelho, defeated the main title contender. He gave a "moral slap" to Mirel Rădoi.

"Mirel (Rădoi) is here, he made a mistake with FCSB, that's his business (laughs). We want to build a strong team. Luck is part of football, there are many variables. We work hard and know what we have to do," said Mihai Rotaru.

Throughout his career, Mirel Rădoi has coached Universitatea Craiova twice. His first stint lasted four months, from August to December 2022. Rotaru brought him back in January 2025, and this time, he stayed on the technical bench until November. Subsequently, Rădoi was contractually free for only four months. The coach could not resist the appeals of Gigi Becali and took over FCSB on March 10, shortly after Elias Charalambous resigned following a loss to U Cluj.

However, Rădoi's adventure with Gigi Becali's team lasted exactly six weeks. After a 3-2 victory over Farul, he packed his bags and left for Gaziantep. As Gaziantep played its last league match of the season on Saturday, the coach flew to Romania and was present for the match against U Cluj. It would have been difficult not to be present at the most important match for the team he helped form, as acknowledged by Universitatea players, including the group's president, Pavel Badea.
