Futsalaši Rijeka secured a 3-1 victory over Olmissum in the first final match of the Croatian Futsal Championship. The finals are played in a best-of-three series. Rijeka currently leads the league with 36 points, while the team from Omiš is third with two points fewer.
In a packed Mladost arena in Trsat, the visitors from Omiš took the early lead, with Toni Kirevski scoring in the 4th minute. Teo Turk equalized for Rijeka in the 13th minute. In the second half, Rafinha emerged as a hero, scoring twice to break the deadlock. He first scored for a 2-1 lead in the 30th minute, and then sealed the win with a 3-1 goal in the 39th minute.
The visitors had a chance to equalize in the 38th minute, but Romeo Sušac's free kick was off-target. The second match is scheduled for Sunday in Rijeka, after which the series moves to Omiš.
Recall that in March, Futsalaši Rijeka won the Croatian Futsal Cup for the first time in club history. The Rijeka team overturned the result from the first final match against Futsal Dinamo (4-1) and celebrated a 7-1 victory at the sold-out Trsat venue.
