The Legend Was Not Welcome
The atmosphere around the Rajko Mitić Stadium is usually one of deafening adoration, but recently it turned cold for one of the club’s greatest icons. Dragan Stojković, known affectionately as Piksi and revered as the fifth star of Red Star Belgrade, found himself unwelcome in a cafe within the stadium complex. According to reports from Sport Klub, Stojković had visited his longtime friend Stevan Stojanović, who owns the establishment. The peaceful visit shattered when a group of Red Star supporters entered the premises. They demanded that Piksi leave the cafe and stay away from the stadium grounds. The owner tried to calm the situation, but the fans remained unmoved. Stojković, displaying the dignity that defined his playing career, stood up without argument and quietly exited. There was no drama, no shouting from the legend—just a silent departure that spoke volumes.
History Repeats on Marakana
This is not the first time the club’s faithful have turned their backs on their hero. History has a cruel way of repeating itself in Belgrade. Back in 2012, a nearly identical scene unfolded at the Marakana. Stojković was waiting in the "Red Cafe" for a meeting with then-president Vladan Lukić when fans approached him. They told him to leave, just as they did now. More than a decade later, the same tension resurfaced, casting a shadow over the relationship between a segment of the fanbase and one of the greatest players in Red Star’s history. For a man who lifted the European Cup in 1991, who gave everything to the red and white stripes, this rejection stings. It raises uncomfortable questions about gratitude, legacy, and who truly owns the soul of a club. The Marakana belongs to the fans, yes, but it also belongs to those who made it great. When legends are treated like intruders, something deeper is broken. Stojković walked away in silence, but the echo of this incident will linger long after the cafe chairs are empty.
fenerbahce were miles better this season tbh but honestly didn't see that coming for piksi lol. navijači sometimes forget who made them great...
