Season ends in disappointment for Răzvan Lucescu and PAOK Salonic. The Romanian's team missed qualification for the Champions League preliminaries after a dramatic 2-2 draw with Panathinaikos, despite leading 2-0. As a result, the team from Thessaloniki finished the Greek league in third place and will play in the Europa League qualifiers.

To finish second, PAOK needed a victory on Panathinaikos' home ground and a slip-up from Olympiakos. At halftime, everything seemed perfect for Răzvan Lucescu.

PAOK was leading 2-0 with goals from Ozdoev and Mythou, and in the other match, AEK was holding Olympiakos. At that moment, PAOK was practically one step away from the Champions League qualifiers. However, everything unraveled in the second half. Panathinaikos came back aggressively, and Gnezda Cerin reduced the difference in the 68th minute, with Taborda equalizing in the 81st minute to set the final score at 2-2. The goal was a shock to PAOK, ending their season without a trophy and without the Champions League.

In the aftermath, Panathinaikos finished in the spot that leads to the Champions League qualifiers after a spectacular comeback in the final round.

Following their defeat, Lucescu already spoke about the team's atmosphere:

"The result leaves a bitter taste. As I said after the match against Olympiacos, we are not even at 50% of our potential, and it was evident today. Like AEK, they were not in their best form. In the second half, we increased the pace, so we were able to score.

We took risks in transitions and received a goal as a result. We managed to equalize, only reacting. We had more pressure and intensity. The reaction made the difference. That was important today, especially when two opposing teams play. It was a balanced match; each team had their chances."
