Farul president and major shareholder Gică Popescu has revealed his conversation with Gică Hagi, the new Romanian national team coach. Farul will face a relegation playoff after losing in their play-off game against Metaloglobus at home, 0-1. Metaloglobus had been relegated following the seventh round but managed a win this season when it was no longer needed, securing the victory with a 1-0 score at Farul.

The team coached by Flavius Stoican needed a draw to avoid the relegation playoff. However, they were unable to secure the necessary result, losing 0-1 to Metaloglobus. Farul's relegation playoff is due to a rounding rule applied to half points, unlike Petrolul, which did not benefit from this rule.

After the match against Metaloglobus, Popescu admitted that the position was a disgrace for the team he leads and owns. He held the players responsible for the loss. "I met a relegated team. If we don’t draw with the last-placed team, we have serious problems. I am very ashamed of where we are," he said.

Popescu stated that Stoican would remain as the coach, despite the disappointing results. "Stoican stays. He will prepare for the playoff from tomorrow. The fault lies with the players. We lost to FC Botoșani and Metaloglobus throughout the season," he added.

Popescu also mentioned that he had spoken to Gică Hagi before the match, who wished him success and gave him a thumbs up. He admitted that he was puzzled by the team's inability to capitalize on significant opportunities.

Popescu emphasized that he would take responsibility for the situation and acknowledged his role in bringing Stoican to the club, stating, "I brought him, and I take the responsibility."
