Perugia Defends Champions League Title for Second Consecutive Year

The Italian powerhouse Perugia, led by coach Angelo Lorenzetti, successfully defended its title in the European Champions League for the second consecutive year. The team dominated the Polish Aurum KMK Warta Zielona Góra with a score of 3:0 (29:27, 25:18, 25:15) in the grand final of the tournament, played in front of nearly 6,000 spectators at the "Inalpi Arena" in Turin.

Bulgarian referee Konstantin Yovchev was the second judge for the final match.

This victory marks Perugia’s second consecutive triumph in the European Champions League.

The team from Zielona Góra, on the other hand, secured silver medals for the second consecutive year, having lost to Perugia in the final last year with a score of 2-3.

Ziraatbank Secures Historic Bronze in Champions League

Earlier in the day, the Turkish Ziraatbank (Ankara) secured its first-ever bronze medals, overcoming the Polish team Projekt Warsaw 3-2 in a dramatic match.

For Perugia, Wasim Ben Tara was the standout player, scoring an impressive 24 points (3 blocks, 3 aces, and 58% attack efficiency - +17). Ben Tara was later named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the final four.

Oleg Plotnitsky and Roberto Russo added 12 and 10 points to the victory, respectively.

For the Zielona Góra team, Mateusz Bienecki scored 9 points (1 block, 62% attack efficiency - +8), while Aaron Russell and Bartłomiej Bolaż each added 8 points.
