Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season, concluding a 10-year tenure that has seen him win 20 major trophies. The 55-year-old, who has led the English club since July 2016, will step down from his coaching role but will continue with the City Football Group (CFG) as a "Global Ambassador."

New Role as Global Ambassador

Guardiola will continue his association with CFG, where he will serve as a "Global Ambassador." In this strategic role, he will provide technical consultancy to all clubs within the CFG umbrella, manage special working partnerships, and contribute to infrastructure and football intelligence projects. This move represents a new chapter for Guardiola, who has been instrumental in shaping the club's success over the past decade.

Guardiola's Farewell Remarks

In his farewell statement, Guardiola reminisced about his initial meeting with Noel Gallagher, the legendary guitarist of Oasis. "When I arrived, my first meeting was with Noel Gallagher. We had such great times together," he said. He then addressed the reasons for his departure, saying, "Do not ask why I am leaving. There is no reason, but deep inside, I know my time has come. Nothing lasts forever, if it did, I would still be here. What will last forever are the feelings, the people, the memories, and my love for Manchester City."

Guardiola also highlighted the city’s culture and character, stating, "This city is built on hard work and dedication. You can see it in the color of the bricks. Early risers, late leavers... from the factories... we worked, we suffered, we fought, and we did things our way."

Recalling the support he received during challenging times, Guardiola said, "I will never forget losing my mother during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this club supported me through that time. The fans, the staff, the people of Manchester... you gave me strength when I needed it most. Cris, my children, my entire family, you were always by my side. We did it for all of you, and you were extraordinary. As my time comes to an end, be happy. I love you all."

President and CEO Statements

Manchester City President Khaldoon Al Mubarak expressed deep gratitude for Guardiola's contributions, saying, "Over the last 10 years, honesty and trust have been the foundation for overcoming every situation with Pep. Today, the right answer is for Pep to end his journey as Manchester City manager. There were points where he could have stopped and felt it was enough, but Pep somehow always found new energy; he developed different and innovative ways to keep winning and achieving success."

Al Mubarak also noted that Guardiola's unique coaching approach allowed the club to constantly challenge its accepted realities, leading to an irreversible evolution. "He not only improved Manchester City but also made football better," he stated.

Manchester City CEO Ferran Soriano echoed similar sentiments, saying, "We had the privilege of working with Pep Guardiola for 10 years. We witnessed his greatness and selflessness, as well as enjoying his friendship, kindness, and humanity."
