Experience Is Not Enough

Logic suggests Strahinja Pavlović should wear the band this June. The AC Milan defender is among the most experienced players in this depleted squad. He answered the call. He traveled the extra mile. But Paunović is not handing out medals for attendance. "Strahinja is an excellent example," the coach stated, acknowledging the defender's dedication. "There is respect and gratitude, but that should not be questioned. He showed he is ready for that extra path. That is praiseworthy and encouraging."

Yet praise does not equal leadership. Paunović made his philosophy crystal clear. He does not dangle the armband like a carrot.
