The Partizan basketball team has qualified for the ABA League final, where they will defend their title.
Partizan once again defeated their arch-rivals, Red Star, in the semi-final series, this time as guests with a score of 89:78 (28:16, 21:17, 18:20, 22:23).
The black-and-whites had a perfect evening and deservedly placed themselves in the final. For those who missed the match, here are the key details of the game, played at the "Aleksandar Nikolić" arena...
In terms of the game itself, Bruno Fernando was the most effective player for Partizan with 19 points. Dilan Osetkovski scored 17 points, while Sterling Braun added 16.
In the home team, Joel Bolomboy and Jordan Nwora each scored 12 points, while Jared Butler added 10.
Partizan started the game stronger and led 8:4, but a home team run of 8:0 turned the momentum. The Red Stars were the dominant force in terms of lead, but Partizan responded with a 17:2 run and took a double-digit lead, which they maintained until the end of the game.
The guests shot much more accurately, had more rebounds, and dominated in assists (15-6 in the first half).
At halftime, Partizan had a 16-point lead (49:33).
Taught by the experience of the first game, where Red Star came from a 20-point deficit to a one-point deficit, it was interesting to see if this scenario would repeat. The red-and-whites managed to come within ten points of the lead with a little over three minutes left, but Partizan was able to hold them off this time.
This was Partizan's first away win in the ABA League play-offs in 11 years. Moreover, in this season, the result is 5:1 for Partizan in the eternal derby.
