Partizan secured one of the biggest victories of the season last night at the "Aleksandar Nikolić" arena, completely humiliating Red Star. They led by as much as 20 points and finished with an 11-point lead - 89:78.

Partizan's coach, Đoan Penjaroja, was understandably overjoyed with his team's display.

"We are happy that we won the series. We are especially happy that we played very well. We deserved to win. It was clear that we had problems in the last quarter with ball distribution. However, I think the boys played very well and were focused on our game plan. In the first half, we had 15 assists and many opportunities to score. We played good defense. Ultimately, this is a great result for us, the club, and the fans. After a tough year for Partizan, I think the fans can enjoy the team and the effort over the last month. We are happy, but it is not enough. We now want to win the ABA League and fight until the end. The finals start in 15 days, which is very strange for me and the players. We also have the KLS, but this is the schedule and it is similar to last month. We will have to train and prepare for both competitions, KLS and ABA," said Penjaroja.

This is the first win in 11 years against Red Star in the ABA League at their home court, did you know that? Did you think you would be so confident?

"This is not routine. It was tough to compete against Red Star. They have a good team, talented and physically gifted players, and a very good coach. It was tough. We won the last four games, but we played well, were focused, and it is not common to win so many games in a row against Red Star. However, I am happy that we won. Yes, the first win in 11 years is perfect for the fans, the club, and everyone."

You came to Partizan in a tough moment, how difficult was it to build a winning team?

"No, you know... In the end, it is most important to have players who want to compete, who want to play and change during the season. It is very important that they trained well over the last month. Nothing is just from the coach. All coaches have their specific rules, but nothing special. I think the most important thing is that they want to fight, not just in games, but also in training, and want to play together. A month ago, the situation was different, the boys wanted to play more individually. Now it is important that they play together, there are no egotists, and in the last two or three months, we have played as a team, not for players."

Is this one of the better games Partizan has played recently?

"I don't know. Repeating, it is not common to win four games in a row in a derby. We are happy that we made it to the finals, that is basketball."

You mentioned the big break after this match, what can you say about the ABA League format?

"The schedule is clear, but I think the owners need to think about whether this schedule is good for the competition. It is difficult to be focused after a long season, to have a break of two weeks before the finals. It is not just that we have a two-week break, but also that we have another competition with another team, because in the KLS teams like us and Red Star play with a different lineup. This is strange. For me as a coach, it is bad, first time. But it is not my problem."

What can you say about Nik Kalates?

"Nik Kalates is a legend. He is one of the most important players in the last 15 years, very important for us, experienced, and it is true that he played brilliantly in the last two games."
